A 53-year-old scholar transport driver was shot dead in Westbury shortly after dropping off schoolchildren, with police searching for two suspects.
A 53-year-old scholar transport driver was shot and killed in Westbury, Gauteng, on Monday morning shortly after dropping off schoolchildren.
Police said the man was preparing to park his vehicle at a flat in Westbury when two unidentified men approached him and opened fire.
Gauteng police spokesperson Captain Tintswalo Sibeko said officers received a report of the shooting at about 8.10am.
“Upon arrival, police found a 53-year-old scholar transport driver with multiple gunshot wounds,” Sibeko said.

“It is alleged that the victim had just dropped off schoolchildren and was about to park his vehicle at a flat in Westbury when two unknown men approached him and opened fire.”
Paramedics declared the man dead at the scene.
Suspects Flee In Blue Volkswagen Polo
According to police, the two suspects fled the area in a blue Volkswagen Polo after the shooting.
Sibeko said the motive for the killing was not known at this stage.

Sophiatown police have opened a murder case as investigations continue.
“No arrests have been made, and police investigations are continuing,” Sibeko said.
Police Launch Manhunt
Police have launched a manhunt for the two men believed to be responsible for the shooting.
Investigators are appealing to anyone who may have information about the suspects or the circumstances surrounding the killing to come forward.
