Femi Adebayo Confirms Plans For Seven Doors Sequel
Actor and filmmaker Femi Adebayo has confirmed that he is working on a sequel to his directorial debut, Seven Doors.
Adebayo released the six-part miniseries in December 2024, and the production went on to receive multiple nominations and awards, including wins at the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) and the Best of Nollywood (BON) Awards.
Speaking on VJ Adams Live, Adebayo explained that revisiting previous productions is part of his preparation when developing a sequel.

He said he is currently rewatching Seven Doors to assess the original production and identify areas that could be improved in its follow-up.
“I watch my movies after they’ve been released, especially when I want to produce another one. For instance, before I produced the sequel to ‘Jagun Jagun’, I watched the first part, same as ‘Ageshinkole’. Now I’m planning to do a sequel to ‘Seven Doors’, so I keep watching the original to do better,” he said.
Audience Feedback Shapes His Creative Process
Adebayo said his review process extends beyond watching his own productions.
He also considers reactions from viewers, including both positive and negative comments, as part of his preparation for future projects.
“I also go to read people’s comments, good or bad, on my movies because it helps me decide what to do better,” he said.
He cited Jagun Jagun and Ageshinkole as previous projects where he followed a similar approach before working on their respective sequels.
According to Adebayo, studying both the original production and audience response helps him identify aspects that can be strengthened in subsequent instalments.
Seven Doors Earned Multiple Awards
Seven Doors received recognition at two major Nigerian film awards ceremonies following its release.
At the AMVCA, the series won Best Lead Actor and Best Lead Actress.
At the BON Awards, it received four awards: Best Series, Best Production Design, Best Cinematography and Best Special Effects.
Adebayo's announcement means the award-winning miniseries is set to return for another instalment, although no release date has yet been announced for the sequel.
