Jub Jub Maarohanye Expected In Court Over Firearm-Related Charges

Media personality Molemo “Jub Jub” Maarohanye is expected to appear before the Germiston Magistrate’s Court on Monday over charges stemming from an alleged confrontation with an e-hailing driver in Edenvale.

Maarohanye faces charges including discharging a firearm in a public place and pointing an object in a manner likely to cause another person to believe it was a firearm.

The case relates to an incident in June involving an e-hailing driver in Edenvale, east of Johannesburg.

According to the allegations, Maarohanye confronted the driver after his girlfriend had been dropped off at a residence in the area. He allegedly accused the driver of being romantically involved with her.

Court Proceedings And Arrest Warrant

The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) in Gauteng says the matter was previously postponed after Maarohanye failed to attend court.

NPA Gauteng spokesperson Magaboke Mohlatlole said Maarohanye had cited ill-health for his absence. A warrant of arrest was subsequently issued but held over until the next court date.

“The postponement follows his failure to appear in court, citing ill-health, which resulted in a warrant of arrest being issued and held over until the next date. Maarohanye faces charges of discharging a firearm in a public place and pointing anything likely to lead a person to believe that it is a firearm. The state is ready to proceed with the matter,” Mohlatlole said.

State Says It Is Ready To Proceed

The prosecution's position is that the matter is ready to proceed when Maarohanye returns to court.
