President Cyril Ramaphosa Booked Off Sick From Public Engagements

President Cyril Ramaphosa has been booked off from public engagements due to ill health, with his medical team advising him to rest and recover.
The Presidency announced the development on Wednesday afternoon, saying Ramaphosa had been advised to take time away from his scheduled public engagements following his return from the BRICS Summit in India.
“Due to ill health, President Cyril Ramaphosa is currently booked off from public engagements,” the Presidency said.
“President Ramaphosa, who returned from the BRICS Summit in India on Monday, has been advised by his medical team to rest and recover.”
The Presidency did not disclose the nature of Ramaphosa’s illness or indicate how long he is expected to remain away from public engagements.
Ministers Asked To Represent Ramaphosa
The Presidency said Ramaphosa had asked relevant Cabinet ministers to represent him at scheduled engagements where possible while he recovers.
The announcement follows the president’s return from New Delhi, where he participated in the 18th BRICS Summit.

The summit was held from 12 to 13 September and brought together leaders from BRICS member and partner countries.
Ramaphosa participated in several engagements during the summit, including discussions on global governance, multilateralism, trade and investment. He also addressed the India-South Africa Business Leadership Roundtable during his visit.
The president returned to South Africa on Monday.
Ramaphosa Missed Green Hydrogen Summit
Ramaphosa had been scheduled to deliver the keynote address at the Africa Green Hydrogen Summit in Cape Town on Tuesday.
Minister of Electricity and Energy Kgosientsho Ramokgopa instead delivered the address on Ramaphosa’s behalf.
The Presidency has not announced when Ramaphosa is expected to resume his public programme.
It has also provided no further details about his condition beyond saying that his medical team advised him to rest and recover.
Further information is expected should the Presidency provide an update on the president’s public programme.
