One Killed, Two Wounded As Gunmen Open Fire At Phoenix Shelter
Police have opened murder and attempted murder cases after unknown gunmen approached three people at a property in Palmview, Phoenix, and opened fire.
A 23-year-old man has been killed and two other people wounded after gunmen opened fire at a property used as a shelter in Palmview, Phoenix.
KwaZulu-Natal police are investigating one count of murder and two counts of attempted murder following the shooting at Wafer Palm Place.
The victims were reportedly sitting in an open area outside the property when a group of unidentified attackers approached and fired at them before fleeing.

KwaZulu-Natal SAPS spokesperson Paul Magwaza said investigators were working to establish the circumstances surrounding the attack.
“It is reported that the victims were seated in an open space when a group of unknown suspects approached them and fired shots in their direction and fled the scene,” Magwaza said.
“The motive for the shooting is unknown at this stage.”
Emergency Services Respond To Shooting
KwaZulu-Natal VIP, which responded to the scene on Friday, said the shooting occurred outside a property being used as a shelter on Wafer Palm Place.
The 23-year-old victim died following the attack, while two others survived.
Police have not disclosed further details about the condition of the two injured victims.

No arrests have been announced and investigators have not established a motive for the shooting.
The identities of the victims had also not been publicly released at the time of reporting.
Shooting Follows Deadly KZN Homestead Attack
The Phoenix shooting comes days after another mass shooting in KwaZulu-Natal in which 11 people were killed.
Armed attackers reportedly entered a homestead where people had gathered shortly before 11pm on Tuesday and opened fire.
KwaZulu-Natal Premier Thamsanqa Ntuli said a pregnant woman was among the victims.
“The victims, including a pregnant woman, were gathered at a house shortly before 11:00 pm on Tuesday, when armed assailants reportedly entered the premises and opened fire,” Ntuli told AFP.
Authorities have not indicated that the Phoenix shooting and the homestead attack are connected.
Police investigations into the Palmview shooting are continuing as detectives work to identify the attackers and establish the motive.
