Kim Kardashian Awarded Just R19 Over 2016 Paris Armed Robbery
A Paris court has awarded Kim Kardashian the symbolic €1 — around R19 — she requested in compensation over the 2016 armed jewellery robbery that she described as “the most terrifying experience of my life”.
Kim Kardashian has been awarded just €1, equivalent to around R19, in compensation over the 2016 armed robbery in Paris in which she was tied up and robbed of millions of dollars worth of jewellery.
The amount was not determined by the court as an assessment of the harm Kardashian suffered. It was the symbolic compensation she had specifically requested.
A Paris court granted the €1 award on Tuesday, following last year's convictions of eight people for their roles in the high-profile robbery.
Kardashian has described the attack as “the most terrifying experience of my life”.
Following the latest ruling, Kardashian and her stylist Simone Harouche issued a joint statement expressing gratitude to the French justice system and explaining the significance of the symbolic award.

“The experience was deeply traumatic, and its impact has stayed with us. Today’s decision is not about the compensation, but about accountability and recognition,” they said.
“We are thankful to the Court and everyone who supported us throughout this process, and we hope to now move forward and continue to heal.”
Kardashian Asked Court For Only €1
The unusually small compensation award reflects Kardashian's own request rather than the court placing a €1 value on the trauma she experienced.
Her claim was intended to be symbolic, with the reality television star and businesswoman placing greater emphasis on accountability and recognition.
The decision follows years of investigation and court proceedings stemming from the robbery.
Kardashian had been staying at the Hôtel de Pourtalès in Paris when the gang targeted her during Fashion Week in October 2016.
Armed men entered the property, restrained Kardashian and stole jewellery worth millions of dollars.
The robbery subsequently became one of the world's most widely reported celebrity crimes.
Eight people were found guilty last year of offences connected to the robbery.
Hotel Receptionist Gets More Than €109,000
The Paris court made a substantially larger compensation award to a former receptionist at the Hôtel de Pourtalès who was also caught up in the robbery.
The receptionist was awarded €109,516 after saying he had suffered trauma as a result of the attack.

He had sought €550,000 in damages and interest.
His lawyer, Mohand Ouidja, welcomed the ruling as a victory.
The receptionist's claim was considered separately from Kardashian's symbolic €1 request, reflecting their different approaches to compensation.
‘Accountability And Recognition’
Kardashian has sought to move forward from the robbery since the criminal proceedings concluded last year.
She travelled to Paris to testify during the trial and gave an account of being restrained and threatened during the attack.
Her latest statement emphasised that the €1 award was never intended to provide financial compensation for what she experienced.
Instead, Kardashian said the importance of the ruling lay in recognising what happened and holding those responsible to account.
Nearly a decade after the Paris robbery, the court has now granted her precisely the compensation she requested — a symbolic €1, or around R19.
